Letterpress In the Old West

My husband and I took a trip to Phoenix for New Years and decided to go to Tombstone for a day. Everything there was a giant tourist trap. We did stumble upon the the studio housing all of the old equipment for the The Tombstone Epitaph newspaper - which printed their first issue in 1880. This was the newspaper during the crazy western days of Wyatt Earp and the Shoot out at the O.K. Corral. Me, being a letterpress fanatic, found it to be the best part of the trip. I had to refrain myself from grabbing this explosive wood block and running away with it. These are all the original cuts and type used for the newspaper. The presses where also very impressive. All of the newspaper was handset with lead type and funky wood composing sticks. If you find yourself in the Old West, this is certainly something to check out.
